The lack of air conditioning is a real concern!!! It made for an uncomfortable night. the limited parking availability led to unnecessary hassle when trying to find a space!!!

Staff were friendly, particularly at the bar, where the atmosphere was lively. check-in lacked efficiency, taking longer than expected despite being only slightly late. The room was a bit small, and I faced issues with a noisy fan and an uncomfortable bed. Room cleanliness could also be better, as I noticed cobwebs in multiple areas. Despite these issues, the location made it easy to reach all attractions, and the breakfast selection was decent.

The hotel was spacious and well-decorated, which suited my family of seven kids perfectly. We enjoyed the beautiful outdoor walks along the River Ouse, and it provided a fun way for the kids to explore while actually being close to the hotel. The staff were friendly.

In my wife’s opinion, the kids wished for a wider breakfast selection, especially for less expensive drinks. The coffee charges felt steep, and a more family-friendly option would be appreciated to keep everyone happy.

we had a fantastic stay at principal! the location is super convenient, just a short walk from key attractions like the railway museum and york minster. our junior suite was spacious and the bed was so comfortable. we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere in the garden room, which was a perfect retreat even with a wedding happening nearby. the extensive leisure facilities are a great bonus too!

The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet, perfect for a peaceful escape. We really appreciated the little touches, like the mini fridge stocked with drinks and treats, made it feel special.

The dining options left much to be desired. both breakfast and dinner were excessively overpriced for the quality, and the buffet-style breakfast led to long queues and cold food. My room, although spacious, had water pressure issues in the shower and a lack of basic comforts that typically come with a superior room. Additionally, the noise from events like weddings carried into the room, disrupting the peace, particularly noticeable late at night. Lastly, parking at £15 per day felt steep, especially given the competition for spaces.

The Edwardian ambiance and well-maintained gardens offered a lovely setting, and the pool and spa facilities were fantastic. However, the room itself was cramped, and the bathroom cleanliness left much to be desired. Service in the restaurant was disorganized, leading to confusion with our orders and a chaotic breakfast experience.
